“ Education is not preparation for life but life itself ”
Keeping the above quote in mind….. Our curriculum is designed to provide the best possible all round education to each of our students through our comprehensive programmes. We strive for each child to reach their full potential and as a school we are totally committed to equality of opportunity for all our pupils.
The Preschool Section (Grades Nursery to Sr. K.G.)
In the Early Years our children spend their day exploring meaningful learning experiences and hands on activities that help them to learn basic skills in a fun and active way. Children are always watching their teachers and parents so we teach these attributes through example as well as through stories, discussions and games.
Language development is also a major focus in the early years. The students are engaged in active dramatic play, songs, rhymes and word play that develop strong language skills. We support students in connecting their learning through concept based teaching. This means that skills are not taught in isolation- everything is connected to a larger concept that helps learning to be meaningful and supports a critical thinking, inquisitive and analytical mind. Learning experiences are designed so that they can be enjoyed by all students and everyone can constantly be engaged and challenged.
The Primary Section (Grades I to IV)
Different students have different learning styles and perform differently based on the context of learning. However, continuous monitoring of a student's behavior can help in assessing and develop traits to facilitate learning which is why we follow CCE technique.
CCE stands for Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation designed to cover all aspects of a student's learning and development. Continuous implies regular assessments, frequency of unit testing, analysis of learning gaps, applying corrective measures, retesting and giving feedback to teachers and students for their self-evaluation. Comprehensive on the other hand attempts to cover both the scholastic and the co-scholastic aspects of a student's growth and development.
The method takes into account both the academic and non-academic performances of students. The academic part includes the teaching learning subjects viz. English, Hindi, Marathi, Math, Science, EVS, Information Technology and Value Education. The non-academic activities include dance, music, art & craft, literary activities, indoor & outdoor sport activities and FIT360 program. Grades are awarded based on innovation, dexterity, public facing, behavior and other skills.
The curriculum is student centric and encompasses these 4 main areas:
• SPAN… Introducing children to a wide range of knowledge, understanding, skills and application based activities.
• EQUILIBRIUM…Each area of the curriculum is allocated a proportion of time on each year group's timetable according to the Education Board guidelines.
• RELEVANCE… Our curriculum is carefully planned to take in to account the needs of our students and to equip them to take a responsible place in the society.
• DIFFERENTIATION … The activities planned cater for the differing needs and abilities of our students.
